The Middle Ages, actually, left a heritage of 54 castles which nowadays allow the visitors a full and suggestive immersion in a past time made of legends, uses and anecdotes kept inside the powerful walls of the castles.
But the province of Alessandria is overall a “tasty country”: Dolcetto, Cortese, Barbera, Grignolino, Brachetto, Moscato ... they are the language of Monferrato, rich land not only of high quality wines D.O.C and D.O.C.G., but also of precious gastronomic products, which together, give birth to a varied cuisine which keeps, still today, a genuineness and a tradition able to rediscover ancient flavours and often lost ones.
Other than for the gourmets, Alessandria region is a favourite goal for excursionists, the Natural park of the Capanne of Marcarolo, the Fluvial park of the Po and the Natural Park of the Sacro Monte of Crea actually offer the possibility of walks and excursions in the green where it is easy to meet tracks of wild boars and roes.

This last town is overall famous for its therapeutic and healthy waters which have made it one of the most famous thermal centre in the peninsula. Exactly in the centre of the city, in a small and cosy square, rises the famous "Bollente", a niche from which every minute it gushes 560 litres of water at the temperature of 75°, a destination not to be disregarded for those who look for a natural wellness, able to restore body and soul.
Among the other towns of the territory there is to mention Alessandria, city with a discreet charm with its Museum of the Borsalino hat, celebration of the local handicraft and of the made in Italy in the world; Valenza, one of the world capital of the jewellery productions and of jewels; Novi Ligure famous for its confectionery industries; Casale Monferrato with its artistic and historic heritage and its famous “crumiri” to end with Serravalle Scrivia, unmissable destination for the shopping and big names with its Serravalle Designer Outlet.
