Vercelli plain, famous for its extraordinary spring show of the submerged rice-fields, it is the theatre of a landscape which could keep the charm and the suggestions of the ancient times.

Other than the huge surfaces of water each scattered of farmsteads used as rice mill, the charme of the city permaetes also the historic centre: stand out the medieval Cavour Square, almost entirely surrounded by arcde squares and dominated by the also medieval Tower of the Angel, the imposing neoclassical Dome, but above all, the famous Basilica of Sant’Andrea, masterpiece of the Roman-Gothic in northern Italy.
Vercelli is a man scale city whose centre has in its inside an artistic and historical heritage of rare beauty: form the visit of the Museum Borgogna, second picture gallery in Piemonte and tenth in Italy for the richness of masterpieces, the Cathedral of Sant’Eusebio and the palace of the archbishopric in which there is the Museum of Treasure of the Dome.

Going out of the city you will then be able to visit some ancient rice mills, among them we point out the Cascina Venaria, film set of the movie “Riso Amaro”.
numerous, above all in summer, the festivals in which you can taste the traditional dishes, from the Panissa to the frogs.
not to be missed is then, by visiting the Valsesia, the Holy Mount of Varallo (acknowledged in 2003 as an UNESCO heritage), where you will have the chance to visit chapels submerged in the green and decorated with masterpieces realized by Gaudenzio Ferrari and other important Masters of  Vercelli; carrying on with the visit of the Valsesia, there are enchanting towns like Riva Valdobbia with its Church and Alagna, in which you won’t be able to avoid and admire the Walser settlement established from the homonymous people of German language.

For the lovers of wine you can’t miss the Regional Wine Cellar of Gattinara, where you can taste excellent local wines having a quality break.

And for the younger ones, and not only, every year in May in Vercelli there is the event "Fattoria in città"  promoted by ASCOM that plans 4 days dedicated to the nourishment education of children and adults. During the day you can admire all the farm animals brought to the city by their breeders and every evening, on the contrary, two restaurants on rotation among the best of the area, offer tasting menu at accessible prices. The event is also accessible to people on wheelchair.
